Alumni News - September edition

Latest releases

  • The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is now playing at Gillian Lynne Theatre, featuring Emily Irish as Associate Lighting Designer.
  • Until 26 September, The Narcissist is running at Chichester Festival Theatre, with Alexandra Faye Braithwaite as Sound Designer, and Claire Skinner and Stuart Thompson amongst the cast.
  • Carys Bowkett stars in The Suspect, now airing on ITV.
  • Ekow Quartey can be seen in television series Becoming Elizabeth, available on Starz.
  • Foundation course graduate Isobel Thom can be seen in I, Joan, playing at the Globe until 22 October.
  • Antigone is running at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre from 3 – 24 September, starring Shazia Nicholls.
  • 2022 graduate Hari Mackinnon has joined The Yard Theatre’s production of The Cherry Orchard, which runs from 5 September – 22 October.
  • Emmanuel Olusanya is starring in Flashbang, showing at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town from 6 – 17 September.
  • Spike The Play begins its UK tour on 6 September. The show stars Patrick Warner, Jeremy Lloyd and Ellie Morris.
  • Rebecca Tebbett is starring in Shakers: Under New Management during its UK tour this autumn, beginning on 8 September at Theatre Royal Wakefield.
  • Esh Alladi stars in The P Word, playing at the Bush Theatre from 9 September - 22 October.
  • The National Theatre’s production of The Crucible will include Tingying Dong as Sound Designer (Content Design) and stars 2022 graduate Ami Tredrea. The show is playing from 14 September – 5 November.
  • Watch Eliot Salt in the trailer for the second season of Fate: The Winx Saga, which lands on Netflix on 16 September. 
  • Leah Harvey, Dominique Hamilton and Daniel Millar are starring in Theatre Royal Stratford East’s production of The Wonderful World of Dissocia, running from 16 September – 15 October. The show includes Tramaine Reindorf as Assistant Director, Alexandra Faye Braithwaite as Sound Designer and Robert Brown as Assistant Stage Manager.
  • See How They Run, starring Ruth Wilson and David Oyelowo, will be released in cinemas on 16 September.
  • Benedict Salter has been announced amongst the cast for the Watermill’s new adaptation of Othello, running from 16 September – 15 October.
  • Super/Natural, narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, is streaming on Disney+ from 21 September.
  • James Corrigan will star in This Is England, which begins on Sky Atlantic on 21 September.
  • The Upstart Crow, featuring Danielle Phillips, returns to the West End from 23 September, playing at the Apollo Theatre.
  • John Lithgow is set to direct off-Broadway show Everything’s Fine, with previews beginning on 28 September.
  • 2022 graduate Sabrina Wu is starring in The Doctor, showing at Duke of York’s Theatre from 29 September – 11 December.
  • Mischief Theatre’s new production Good Luck, Studio begins previews on 30 September at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester, where it runs until 15 October. It will then transfer to Salisbury Playhouse in Wiltshire and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford. The show also features sound design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite.

Things to look forward to

  • Jordan Peters has been cast in My Lady Jane, an upcoming historical comedy series for Amazon Prime.
  • Rebecca Frecknall has been announced as director for the Almeida’s revival of A Streetcar Named Desire.
  • 2022 graduate Imani Yahshua has joined the cast of Sex Education, with season four coming to Netflix soon.
  • Watch the first trailer for Empire Of Light, which will feature Tom Brooke. The film will screen as part of the London Film Festival this October. 
  • Ruth Wilson will star in the upcoming BBC thriller The Woman in the Wall.
  • Barney Fishwick has joined the cast of AppleTV+’s The Buccaneers-inspired series.
  • Katherine Parkinson will star in ITV’s upcoming comedy-drama Significant Other.
  • Amir El-Masry has joined the cast of Club Zero, with filming recently beginning in the UK.
  • 2021 graduate Amy Darton has joined the cast of upcoming series, Invitation to a Bonfire.
  • Charles Babalola has been cast in King Shaka, set to air in 2023.
  • The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho, written by Paterson Joseph, will be published this October.
  • From 4 – 8 October, catch Matthew Canny as Mr Rochester in Courtyard Hereford’s production of Jane Eyre.
  • Danny Mahoney will be joining the cast of Rebecca Frecknall’s Cabaret this October, as it continues its run in the West End.
  • From 8 October, Murray Fraser stars in Local Hero at Chichester Festival Theatre.
  • Jonathan Howard and Jamie Bamber are amongst the cast of The Lair, which will be released in the US on 28 October.

Latest news

  • Congratulations to Hugh Coles and Kemi-Bo Jacobs for their nominations at The Stage Debut Awards. Hugh Coles was nominated for Best Performer in a Musical and Best West End Debut Performer for Back to the Future: The Musical, and Kemi-Bo Jacobs was nominated for Best Writer for All White Everything But Me.
  • Congratulations to Samuel Barnett, who has been named as the recipient of The Stage Edinburgh Awards 2022 for Feeling Afraid As If Something Terrible Is Going to Happen. The show played at Edinburgh Fringe throughout August.
  • Tatty Hennessy’s play Attrition has been announced as a recipient of the New Play Commission Scheme.
